A SAFE Alert has been issued for Tucson, Arizona. This is the Arizona Department of Public Safety.  The Tucson Police Department is looking for 90-year-old William Eugene Layne. Mr. Layne is described as a white male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 180 pounds, with brown eyes and gray hair. He was last seen wearing a T-shirt and black sweatpants. He was driving a gold 2012 Toyota Camry with Arizona license plate CPB3663.  His vehicle was photographed by automated system at 12:30 A.M. on 03-09-26 on Highway 70 near Peridot. Mr. Layne suffers from a condition that may cause him to be confused. Sedgwick County Emergency Management WILL test the outdoor warning devices at noon today. We have spotters in the field monitoring sirens where citizens reported they did not sound during last Wednesdays test and/or Fridays activation. We are working on software upgrades on the older siren system, so we anticipate some of those sirens may not sound during the test. Sedgwick County outdoor warning sirens are tested every Monday at Noon, except Holidays and when threatening weather is present. Today we will be testing the Alert mode, for one minute. The Alert Mode is a steady tone used for Tornado warning, The Attack Mode is a classic rise and fall sound used for Air Attack Warning in times of war. Outdoor warning sirens are designed to be an early warning device primarily for persons who are outside away from the television and or radio. Remember, when the outdoor warning sirens sound, Take cover, Tune in to local media, Take action. Emergency Management officials highly recommend citizens keep a NOAA weather radio in their homes, preferably in the bedroom, with a tone alert for those times when you are not monitoring public media.
